Salary information is based on hourly, monthly, or annual estimates from the State of California Employment Development Department.
Machine Shop
600 hours. Complete in 24 to 28 weeks.
Learn how to set up and operate all types of machines and use tools including drill presses, lathes, and precision grinders. You’ll also be introduced to computer numerical control.
Steel Fabrication
1,200 hours. Complete in 48 to 52 weeks.
Instruction is based on industry standards established by the American Welding Society.
You learn to read blueprints; perform layouts and oxy-fuel cutting; and how to use hydraulic tools—all necessary to understand how ships are built. Learning industry safety practices is also a big part of this program.
